The InLinks SEO tool created by Dixon Jones the former CMO of Majestic SEO and current “Global Brand Ambassador” at Majestic.com.
It’s difficult to describe the InLinks SEO software tool features in a brief sentence or two, there’s a lot covered and I’ve not looked at most of it yet, so I’m not going to try.
I was interested in the InLinks tool for it’s potential in automated internal semantic SEO linking from body text and that’s all I’ve looked at so far.
Automated internal semantic SEO linking from body text is something I’ve been looking for, but SEO tools and WordPress plugins either don’t do a particularly good job or are way too expensive for even a modestly sized website.
WordPress plugins which offer automated internal linking tend to be dumb (and costly in SEO performance terms), there’s lots of plugins which automatically internal link from within the body text, but they tend to rely on keyword lists.
You build a keyword/keyphrase list like this:
- InLinks SEO
- Inlinks Review
- InLinks SEO Software
- InLinks SEO Tool
- Semantic SEO
- Semantic SEO Tool
- Semantic SEO Tools
- Semantic SEO Practices
- Semantic SEO Strategy
- Semantic SEO WordPress
- Semantic Markup
- SEO Tests
- SEO Testing
- Anchor Text
- Title Tags
- SEO Services
Each keyword/keyword phrase is associated with a URL to link to.
The WordPress plugin will then automatically scan through Posts and replace body text with a link to the associated URL.
These are NOT Semantic SEO Links, these are Perfect Anchor Text SEO Links and will result in lots of internal links with the exact same anchor text. Some internal links with perfect anchor text are a great start, but what we really want is lots of links with ‘messy’ anchor text, yet the links are still semantically relevant.
Perfect Anchor Text Links used to work REALLY well for Google rankings and they still hold value in 2020, BUT what we don’t want is ALL perfect anchor text links, we want a mix of perfect anchor text and semantically relevant anchor text links.
In the above paragraph I manually added two links to webpages on this site related to Anchor Text.
The first link is a semantic SEO link, it’s ‘messy’, from a first view you aren’t sure what the link goes to, is it a webpage targeting the phrase Anchor Text, Text Links, Google Rankings or something else?
The webpage linked to is about the declining SEO value of anchor text, I’m sure you can see the relevance of adding that link above.
The second link is a perfect anchor text link, the anchor text is “Anchor Text” and it’s obvious the linked to webpage is targeting the Anchor Text keyphrase (it’s a general Anchor Text SEO Tutorial). These types of links used to work really well.
As Google gets better at understanding natural language we need more of the ‘messy’ semantic SEO type links and fewer perfect anchor text links. This is what the InLinks software tool attempts to achieve.
I’ve written a lot about anchor text over the past 20 years, there’s 3 WordPress Posts and 18 WordPress Image Attachment Pages with the keyphrase “Anchor Text” within the Title Tags:
- Anchor Text SEO Tutorial
- Anchor Text SEO
- Anchor Text Analysis
- Anchor Text SEO Test Using Unique Keywords
- Anchor Text Importance in SEO
- Miserable Failure GoogleBomb and Anchor Text
- Anchor Text Alt Text SEO

- Obscure Google Exact Match Search for an External Links Anchor Text SEO Test

I want those 21 webpages linked semantically together if possible without having to manually edit them all one by one!
Sadly I can’t fully test the InLinks service effectively, the free version is limited to only 20 webpages. It’s not enough to be worthwhile for a modest sized site: this site has around 175 WordPress Posts and over 1,000 WordPress Image Attachment Pages indexed by Google. The paid InLinks version for a site of this size is too expensive.
To fully utilize InLinks sitewide the SEO tool would need to analyse around 1,500 webpages, that would cost $468 a month or $5,616 a year! That’s way too costly for my sites, so my testing on the InLinks tools ends here.
I can confirm Google does spider, index and rank the type of JavaScript links generated by the InLinks SEO tool.
I can’t say if they are targeted enough (silo SEO’d enough) to be used in the sort of internal linking structures I use.

Thanks for doing the review and sorry you never got to test the paid version. At the moment, we are giving a first month money bacj offer to anyone that goes on a 1 to 1 demo with me to see how the tool works. That’s not charity – I just find that people are 8X as likely to stay as customers after the 30 minute demo.
You also do not NEED to add all 1,500 pages (although if you DO, then you are right about the pricing). Most people start by adding their cornerstone pages and make the topic associations. Then they add the other pages up to the amount of budget they think will proiduce a posoitive ROI. Start with the content rich pages first! :)
I don’t want to put a link in your comments, but if you can’t find the link to the demo offer, just use the online chat with your free account on the site.
Thanks again for the review. Take care, Dixon.
