Not actually going to write 101 SEO Tips in one go, so here’s 15 random SEO tips :-)
SEO Tip 1 – SEO Takes Time
SEO takes time, there’s no magic bullet in SEO, avoid taking short cuts they can hurt a lot long term.
SEO Tip 2 – New Backlinks Have to Age
New backlinks take about a year to pass full SEO benefit.
SEO Tip 3 – Don’t Make Panic SEO Changes
What is happening to your website today could be due to something you did over 6 months ago or Google is making algorithm changes and you’ve been caught in the changes: never make panic changes.
SEO Tip 4 – Be Patient
Be patient.
SEO Tip 5 – Avoid Nofollow
Nofollow links (rel=”nofollow”) pass no link benefit, but does delete link benefit, avoid nofollow on websites you own like an SEO plague, they damage your SEO efforts.
SEO Tip 6 – Anchor Text is Important
Anchor text of text links should include relevant keywords like 101 SEO Tips.
SEO Tip 7 – Avoid Click Here as Anchor Text
Avoid using Home, Click Here and similar for anchor text, they have no SEO value.
SEO Tip 8 – First Anchor Text Value
Only the first unique links (as loaded in the HTML code) anchor text of multiple links to the same webpage like these three links to the same webpage SEO Gold Coast, Home, Click Here is counted SEO wise (in the above Home and Click Here are ignored, only SEO Gold Coast).
SEO Tip 9 – Advanced Anchor Text Planning
Knowing 6 make sure if you must use terrible anchor text (like Home) for links make sure there’s an SEO version higher in the HTML code (like the example in 8).
SEO Tip 10 – Look to #Anchors
Adding #something to the end of a link ‘breaks’ the rule in SEO Tip 8. SEO Optimization Tips, Local SEO Tips, SEO Tips for Small Businesses. All the text “SEO Optimization Tips“, “Local SEO Tips” and “SEO Tips for Small Businesses” counts SEO wise.
SEO Tip 11 – Limit Sitewide Backlinks
If you are working on backlinks and not leaving your links to organic backlinks, avoid sitewide links from large websites, doesn’t look good during a Google manual review to have 10,000 links from one domain. Trust me, I have the Google penalty T-shirt in many sizes :-)
SEO Tip 12 – Ignore Keyword Density
Ignore keyword density, if your content reads well your keyword density is spot on. On SEO copyrighting add your relevant keyword phrases as much as possible. If it’s readable it’s good, if it reads like SEO SPAM you’ve gone too far: this is search engine optimization not rocket science :-).
SEO Tip 13 – Alt Text Has SEO Value
Try to add images to a webpage with hyphenated filenames (seo-tips.jpg) and relevant alt text (alt=”SEO Tip”), both the filename and the alt text count SEO wise.
SEO Tip 14 – Title Attributes Have NO SEO Value
The title attribute (title=”SEO Tips”) of text links and images have NO SEO ranking value.
SEO Tip 15 – Hyphens are your SEO Friend
Hyphenated domain names and filenames (/101-seo-tips/) are better SEO wise than non-hyphenated (/101seotips/) or underscored (/101_seo_tips/), the latter two pass NO SEO ranking value.
SEO Tip 16 – SEO Forums are Filled with Misinformation
Don’t believe everything you read on the SEO forums, they are filled with SEO Myths and bullshit SEO advice.
David Law
Hi David,
After use your SEO theme for my blog, my site and blog both jumped into top rank of Google search result, thanks a lot for your help.
There is strange things, My site domain.com has PR 3 got first position;
but domain.com/blog got second position by only has PR 0 , how can this happen, is there any way I can improve /Blog PR through inside link from index.html.
Also, is there anyway I can set up all previous link in one page, so people can overview all article at one time.
Thanks a million for your kindly advise again! :)
Kelvin
Hey Kelvin,
Glad the SEO Blix theme helped with your Google rankings.
Your blog as second listing for a SERP is normal, Google is saying there’s another page on your site that’s relevant to that search phrase.
I’ve found internal links pass close to full benefit right away where external incoming links take about a year to pass full benefit, so if you’ve linked to your blogs homepage from the index page it’s going to rank quicker than if you put the same blog on a new domain or only had links from outside sources. With a PR3 home page the boost won’t be very big, but everything helps :-)
If there’s a link from your homepage to the blog it will increase PR of the blogs main page at the next PR update (
PageRank updates are roughly quarterly now!!Public PageRank no longer updates). With a PR3 home page you’ll probably see a PR2 for your blog home page. If there aren’t many links from your home page (to other pages of your site and outside) then it might make your blog PR3.Not tried to get all blog articles linked from one page, though I bet there’s a way either through the archive pages or a plugin. Take a look on WordPress see what they have.
